King's Kevlar GY6 Drive Belt

The Return of the KING
It has been more than three years since this amazing belt was last seen on online stores. The exclusive distributor www.oregonvintage.com has closed shop and these were never seen again until now.

Re-introducing the King's Kevlar Drive Belt.
We have tested the MRP, Bando, Gates and Powerlink on our custom Vento R4i GY6 180cc. and the King's brand proved to be the best out of the bunch.

63mm Block w/ Forged Pistons and Big-Valve Head
Balanced Crank and Racing Con-Rod
30mm CVK Carb & Custom Powerpipe
Single Swing-Arm Mod

We tracked down the former wholesaler and found an individual seller online. He sells the belts for $34.99 plus shipping. About $5 Cheaper than www.oregonvintage.com. Shipping time takes a little bit longer but totally worth the wait.

We believe in a safe, headache-free ride. This is one of those items that we are truly grateful for. Visit http:sinfulthredz.ecrater.com to grab your own.

Thanks to Sinful Thredz for bringing the King back!

GY6 Performance Exhaust Tuning Tips

GY6 Exhaust Pipe Tuning

Tuning your exhaust is as critical as any adjustment made to your engine. It requires proper length, diameter, bends, and angles to accomplish proper back-pressure.

Scooter Exhaust 101:

Engines with CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) require the proper back-pressure to maximize the engine's power output depending on the engine's displacement.

This Custom GY6 PowerPipe was handmade with love.

FACT: Using a "Free-Flow" or "Open" Pipe on an Engine with CVT will steal power and damage internal engine components.

This pipe in this picture is tuned specifically for my GY6 180cc. It has a riveted cylinder for easy access if any modification or adjustments are needed on future engine upgrades.

Professional Fabricators use an exhaust calculator to accurately adjust the properties of the pipe design. This requires great understanding of the software and the materials used in the build.

Here's a screenshot of an exhaust calculator:

CONSTRUCTION:

Form and Function:

You have to consider the construction of your exhaust. TIG welded metal is not exposed to prolonged high temperatures. Thus, not weakening the metal. And yeah, it looks a lot cleaner too.

The gauge and type of metal used is also important in the design of the exhaust. It allows proper heat dissipation and structural strength. On this Powerpipe, 16 gauge Stainless Steel was used.

GY6 Drive Belt Tips and Tricks

SHREDDING DRIVE BELTS?

If you modified your engine or components on your CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), you may have come across shredding a drive belt or two.

We have seen hundreds of cases like this.

Top Causes of Drive Belt Failure:

1. Replacing the Drive face with poorly designed Ventilation Fins or with a different pitch than stock.

2. Poor CVT Case ventilation (Blocked or dirty ventilation ports).

3. Oil and water contamination on inner CVT case and components.
  • Check oil seals on the crank side and the gearbox side.

4. Incorrect Drive Belt size per Specification.
  • Using shorter belts will wear your main bearings and gearbox bearings faster than normal.
  • If you are not sure what size belt your scooter uses, contact Sinful Thredz and they'll help you find the correct size.

5. Substandard Quality Drive Belt.
  • We always recommend the silver box Bando with silver print on the belt or the King's Kevlar Belt as recommended by ScootDawg and Stan from the long gone oregonvintage.
6. Higher RPM means more Heat. Extra ventilation is required for high RPM CVT's.

To keep components working properly, make sure to use the correct lubricants (Ex. silicone lubricant).

If you wish to accomplish much higher RPM than what your CVT is rated for, make sure to create more ventilation ports to keep the belt from excessive heat damage.

We have seen a lot of people using slightly shorter belts to increase torque. It's a lot of fun at the beginning until you realize that your gear bearings and main bearings wear out much faster.

For optimal CVT tuning, consider torque springs, clutch springs, slider weights and if you know a machinist, have him shave the inner variator pockets to extend the roller weight contact surface.

Remember!: Problems start when you replace vital stock parts with poorly designed aftermarket parts. Most of the time, aftermarket performance parts work as a set with modifications to the stock casing. Please use proper tuning techniques. Don't just listen to the experimental tuner online. You may be doing more damage than good.

Ride safe! Cheers!
